There can always be serious accidents - often fatal for the driver - involving tipping forklifts.
When the load is lifted the center of gravity of the industrial truck also moves upward and maneuvering becomes dangerous. Especially on sloping ground this tipping accidents often occur.
For this reason, a regulation in the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (Industrial Safety Regulation) came back into force in 2012, requiring all forklift trucks to be equipped with effective restraint systems. This VO applies to all forklifts without exception, including vehicles built before it came into force.The only exception are driver cabs with closed doors, since they can protect the occupant in the event of tipping over
Colored seat belts improve seat belt acceptance.
The simplest and most obvious solution is to install driver seat belts but unfortunately it still had not been risen to wider acceptence among drivers.
Belt buckles with monitoring and color conspicuous belts allow better control here
