Gel batteries are cyclical and, just like AGM batteries, completely sealed and
maintenance-free. As the name suggests, acid is added to the gel. This causes
the electrolyte to form a gel-like substance that cannot leak.
This design makes the battery leak-proof and prevents gas from forming during normal
use. The small amount of gas that can be generated flows back into
the electrolyte, as is the case with AGM batteries. This means that the
battery never needs to be refilled or ventilated.
Gel batteries are more expensive than AGM batteries, but they also have a longer service life
and can withstand higher loads.
