AGM batteries differ significantly in regards to design from conventional batteries filled with liquid electrolytes.
AGM batteries have a compressed glass fibre mat between their plates.
This enables a particularly fast reaction between the acid and the plates, which offers further advantages:
AGM batteries are virtually insensitive to vibrations.
Better performance/higher discharge current than conventional lead-acid batteries.
Smaller size possible with the same performance.
• No gas escapes during normal use; the small amount of gas that is still formed is returned to the electrolyte.
• Ventilation is therefore not necessary.
• For safety reasons, the battery has an overpressure valve.
• It can be installed in almost any position (except upside down).
The more complex design makes AGM batteries significantly more expensive than simple lead-acid batteries but they are still cheaper than gel batteries.
Our AGM batteries have a life expectancy of approximately 500 cycles.
